Banning Cars

The French government has made a law that people who own cars can only drive it on certain days. The specific law is that drivers with uneven license plates will drive on one day and drivers with even license plates will drive on the other day.

Basically they made this law to stop the pollution in paris. Because the pollution rates are really high and they want to try and solve it by taking half of the cars of the street. They have tried one day with the new law and is a success.

They organised this by putting a meeting together and making advertisements for the residents of paris but most of all for the drivers who own cars. They tried to work out a trial and when they did they found it was a success because the pollution rates were going down. They stopped it after a day because it was disbanded.

For the people who own a car in the city of Paris it would have been a waste of time if the law wasn’t disbanded. because all that money to buy a car and you can’t even drive it on some of the days.

Nervous Keri

It was 8:20 and keri was supposed to be at her tournament, she was too busy rushing putting on her clothes until 8:25 keri ran with speed into the car once she reached at her destination, it was 8:30 just in time to get ready she tried to act normal, but she was feeling anxious her palms were sweating with fear, she felt goosebumps all over her body, then the games started.

Review: This story is about Mabel and he jolly sister Violet. Mabel is 8 years old and loves to neatly pack a suitcase she is not a impatient jolly person she is quit and patient on the other hand her sister Violet is 5 year's old she wont pack her suitcase when she is told, and is the opposite of Mabel.  So it all begins one day that Mabel and Violet that they are going to a long trip to their cousins house, named Zoe and Mya. Violet was really excited and so was Mabel, so they get in the car and they wait for their mum because she was in the bathroom.  Just then Mabel whispered in Violets ear 'please don't use your magic because if mum finds out then she will be heart broken" then Violet says ' why not" because when mum was little she was born with magic and so are you and she dose not want you or me born with it, she will be torn apart, so keep that in mind. After a while finally their mother came in the car and took off. Their to cousins , After half way they at stopped by a hotel after when got their luggage out they settled in their rooms until the next day until then at 4:00 am in the morning Mabel eyes were shining with purple bright light, and whispered Violet then started, and started to look for her then she found her sleeping she went up to her and tapped on her shoulder and the purple light disappeared and went back to sleep the next morning was overwhelming they all got up and suddenly something happens not expectedly. . . . . .	Excerpt:  It's a long ride to the beach town where her cousins live, but Mabel always love a car trip. She's a champion packer, prepared for any emergency. But nothing could prepare her for what happens when here family meets up with it Zoe and Mya.  Mabel's cousins are the first people who see Violet for what she really is. About Elizabeth Hegarty ( author from river salt)

Elizabeth Hegarty's is Originally from the UK, Elizabeth Hegarty's family live in Auckland. When she was seven they have always been a very bookish family, and with an editor for a father Liz could never get away with any  misunderstands or misplaced apostrophes. Liz went to university, studying French and English literature, and after a few years Liz went overseas travel in Europe, Liz and then-boyfriend Liam returned to New Zealand to settle down and get married. Her beautiful daughter Molly was born in 1995.

Liz worked as a business analyst for the past 12 or more years, in IT and corporate strategy, across banking and retail. In 2006 Liam and Liz decided that they'd deserved their time in the rat-race, and moved down to a tiny place called Canvas town, at the foot of the Marlborough Sounds. They now live in secluded valley, with a river running behind the house and a 50-minute drive between them and the nearest supermarket. Liz has said that the change has been a wonderful experience, and has given her time to focus on writing and painting, although she still does analysis on a semi-freelance basis for several New Zealand retailers.

The Point England Way

Hello everyone today I am going to write about The Point England Way

Everyday when Pt England students come to this school we come with a positive mind, we have rules at our school  but mostly it is especially based on the korero, (korero means to us is like a logo to us) last year our korero was about kia pai Te kotahi, (means better together). I think it’s best for everyone to follow the Point England Way, I think that way because most people would just ignore the rules and just would get in trouble then they will feel bad about themselves and think about why did they did that but some will just won’t care.

The Point England Way started in 2000-2001 it that is was made about 14 or 13 years ago, The Point England Way discovered by Mr Burt but to machine Mr Burt did not discover it by himself he did have help from a helpful teacher Miss Malaysia but she left which was very said but our teacher remember her as a legend and it is awesome that we have been carried on until 2014. This is a quote from Mr Burt that class 4 (which I am) had received ‘ The Point England Way ". “...means that it is our kawa of care, the way we do things so that we can be happy with another, safe, enjoy each others’ company, learn well and have a good time at school.”

At our school in each class we have a small TV (if you guy be thinking like ‘OMG they really watch TV that's so cool” well on that TV we all have we do not watch cartoons we actually watch Penn (Penn is short for Point England New News) penn is not a channel it is news, for our school like it tells us what is going to happen today, what sports are coming up for people who want to join in, and the weather and stuff like that and at Mrs Telea's there are a group of ambassadors, that make the news everyday it is a big job. every Friday our school has an assembly, and in that assembly we always have an new korero or the same one because some people just don’t get the word he is saying or explaining.

The reason we do this at our school is to get us ready for the future because if we wanted to buy something from your local shop then what will you say after been served? or after you have been saved from a dog chasing you what will you say ?, and most importantly our behavior and our attitude when something funny happens to a person and they don’t like it then don’t laugh if its a sad day for someone and they don’t like it then don’t laugh it just gets worse its better to do the right thing, and all these thing mean all to just one word RESPECT.

The thing that I have just said goes the same like the treaty of Waitangi the British people and the Maori people the British people made a treaty for the Maori people to sign just to bring peace and harmony in New Zealand. At Point England School we always have to your the three P’s the three P’s are protection participation and partnership.

Waitangi Treaty

Treaty of Waitangi

      In the 1840s 174 years ago there was a treaty sign by the British people and  the Maori people, it was an agreement trying to stop some of the problems  that were happening in New Zealand.

One day Queen Victoria of England had instructed to William Hobson to have  a treaty made in English translated into Maori in three months time. The day before Hobson had to present the treaty it didn't look like he was interested or cared because he hadn't even started writing it yet and didn't look like he was going to. It was finally translated from English to Maori just before all the Maori chiefs had gathered to discuss the treaty, if they should sign it or not.

                                                                                                           The Treaty talked about Participation, Partnership and Protection for the Maori people. When they all gathered together to sign the treaty, the British thought that if they would sign the treaty, they would rule over NZ. The Maoris thought that if they would sign the treaty then they would have more trade and have peace. They also thought that British will control the settlers. Somehow they started trading and it became more peaceful. But as time came on the misunderstandings lead to war.

Once William Hobson had convinced the chiefs the treaty was sent around the country for 500 other chiefs to sign. Now it is 174 year old.

Fatu,u

last week room 16 has been working on their maori art from Fatu’u . Mr Somerville has been telling us all about Fatu’u showed us his pictures ,painting, and drawing they all looked creative
I started to get the picture so.Mr S said we frist had to go on our netbooks and search of his
pictures and then  draw it on a light paper I had an large paper and started lightly  on the paper with my pencil then I had to get three different colours and colour it in beautifully so it looks cool.
The next day was freaky because we were gonna use the indian ink the whole class thought    that it was gonna be normal ink but it wasn't that ink was dangerous because if we get it anywhere on our clothes or hands it will never come off so Mr S had taken 10 painting holders
to put the indian ink in after that  Mr S carefully put in the indian ink in so we all started gently over lining the pencil marks we did with the ink.
Today is our last day of finishing our lovely art so we only
had to finish our art with the indian ink
