Last week our class room 19 have been making putiputi (flower) at Oamaru creek . We went walking and sat down on grass near the flax the equipment we had been using was rulers and little knifes the reason we went there is to learn how special they are in a Maori culture.
but in Maori they have certain rules when you're allowed to pick them and sometimes not it 1 never the three middle ones they are the very important because the 1 is the Matua (Father) the second one is the pepi (Baby) the 3 one is the whaea (Mother) because if you do the entire plant will die. 2 don't pick them when its raining because it will never survive 3 and make sure when you're cutting them cut them at the bottom of the plant don't cut them in the middle or they won't grow .
To start of you can pick a buddy and cut two one for your self and another for your buddy once we have cutten 2 we can ripped the red bits from the the edges after that you can splits them into two but always remember that they are special. Then we can grab all the bits make it all in one piece and put it under the plant to give all the fieber it had all in that flax but after that we went down in the street to do the next step but I had to go choir with miss M so I had to miss out
well hoped you liked it
